Pretty Little Liars (Sara Shepard)

Ali, Spencer, Hanna, Emily and Aria are the popularist girls at school. Their lives are picture perfect. But they have a secret. A big secret.

During the summer leading into the eighth grade, Ali goes missing without a trace. After she goes missing, the other four girls drift apart so much that they don't even wave to each other in the hallways.

Now, Spencer is a floor hockey superstar, Hanna is bulimic, Emily is trying for a diving scholarship and Aria moved to Iceland, but has recently returned to her old town. Their lives are completely different.

But now they are all getting creepy texts or emails from someone who goes by "A". The question is; who is A?

But that’s not the worst part of any of their lives. Spencer likes her sister’s boyfriend. Hanna's boyfriend won't lose the big V, Emily is wondering if she likes her best friend in more ways than just friends and Aria loves an older guy.

Their problems are all big problems, in their mind. But they can't let it get in the way of their secret, because they are all pretty little liars.

.........................................................................................

This book was kind of dumb. But it’s really addicting. And before I knew it, I got sucked into it and I could not stop reading.

Characterization was key in this novel. It was very well done and that’s what got me into it. The characters were all completely different, but at the same time, they were all popular snobs and they all did bad things like drinking and marijuana.

The only thing close to plot in this whole book was conflict, and there was plenty of that. The only built up this book had was for the individual characters, which would have been fine if there was a climax. But for each character there was not really a climax, only one small thing that made me gasp.

You would never suspect a novel about plastic girls to be about something so dark. The dark part of the book- the mystery part- was really, really good. The only thing missing was a climax, which is very, very important.

Even though this book was kind of dumb. But the dark parts made it very good.

4 out of 5 stars
