It has been tradition for years' that Matt, Sean and Coop make a goal at the begging of summer that must be completed by the end of summer. This year, their goal is to see a real life naked girl.
Matt and his friends have been doing a summer swim team for as long as they can remember. This year, to impress a girl, Matt volunteered to swim the hardest stroke none on planet earth- the Butterfly.
There is a new girl on the swim team that Matt has a crush on. But things with her are not going well, thanks to the boy who has always won the 100- yard butterfly. It seems like the only way he can get her attention is by winning the race.
The only thing wrong with that is he can't do the butterfly- at all. he can't even do one lap- let alone four. But if he does not place, there is no chance his team can win. But he has the rest of the summer to practice, so what's the worst thing that can happen?
.....................................................................................
This was probably as realistic someone could get while writing a fiction book.
The characters did not seem forced. Their personalities all worked together well. It was nice not reading a book with 3 friends who have opposite personalities. insted they all had similar personalities and interests.
However, this book seemed to only use characterization, plot and symbolism. I think it would have been better if the ending was not as predictable as it was. But even tought the author only used 3 literacy terms, he used them all so well that the book did not seem off balanced.
This book was one of the funniest things I have ever read. It definitely had its stupid parts that only teenaged boys will understand, but most of them had me laughing too. It was worth the read.
4 out of 5 stars.
